Bl.é Art
Approach
Here, the line becomes a language, a means of building, revealing, and transforming.
My name is Éric Blanchot, an artist and illustrator based in Strasbourg. Under the signature Bl.é Art, I explore a territory where the line organizes the composition and guides the viewer's gaze.
Everything begins with a gesture: straight, clean, sometimes taut, sometimes freer. It articulates space, brings forth light, and gives birth to forms.
Background
At the crossroads of design, image, and composition.
Trained in communication at the illustration workshop of the École supérieure des arts décoratifs in Strasbourg, I have worked in the fields of visual design and art direction.
These experiences have fostered a particular focus on clarity, structure, and graphic consistency.
Today, my work unfolds through exhibitions, collaborations, and art publications.
I also teach graphic arts and concept art in design schools, where I encourage students to consider line as a true form of writing.
Styles
Two complementary visual approaches structure this universe: Linear Writing:
- Linear Expression
A vocabulary of lines with varied orientations, composing clear, structured, and immediately legible forms. - Perceptual Grid
A more fragmented framework, where vertical and horizontal lines intersect and alter the overall perception.
Both approaches are based on the same quest for balance between organization and visual tension.

A Look
This research is part of a reflection on perception and transformation.
Some pieces draw on references from visual culture, used as a starting point for a process of reinterpretation.
The visual is then displaced, recomposed, and integrated into a graphic system that redefines its balance.
What seems familiar at first glance gradually evolves depending on the distance and the attention paid.

Process
Each creation begins with a research phase, initiated on paper or tablet.
The compositions are then developed in vector format to guarantee precision, sharpness, and accuracy of form.
The entire piece is produced using high-definition fine art printing on materials selected for the quality of line and color reproduction.

From Line to Grid, my work revolves around two complementary visual writings: one based on clarity and construction, the other on fragmentation and the perception of the image.
